Professional Development Workshop: Public Speaking

Join us for a professional development workshop to hone your public speaking skills on June 19! Hear tips and strategies from Chris Carson of the Speakeasy Toastmasters on how to captivate your audience and become a more confident speaker and leader. The two-hour workshop will include a presentation and interactive opportunities to practice and get feedback. By the end of the workshop, you will have the tools necessary to become a powerful communicator and will feel more confident about your public speaking skills!

Chris Carson graduated from Cal in 2013, where he studied geography and political science. He first joined Toastmasters in 2014, as a member of Lonestar Toastmasters in Washington, DC. While studying Russian overseas, he founded the first Toastmasters club in Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek Toastmasters. Upon returning to the United States, he joined Speakeasy Toastmasters in DC, where he served as secretary and is currently the club’s president. He has an MA in International Affairs from the George Washington University, and is a due diligence researcher at Kroll.

Toastmasters International is a US headquartered nonprofit educational organization that operates clubs worldwide for the purpose of promoting communication and public speaking skills. Since 1924, Toastmasters International has helped people from diverse backgrounds become more confident speakers, communicators, and leaders. Members join local clubs (each of which feature a unique culture so check out different clubs!) which meet regularly to develop their professional and leadership skills.
