Winter Food Drive

This holiday season, the Cal Alumni Club is partnering with the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) for its annual holiday food drive. Our food drive will run from Wednesday, November 23rd through Friday, December 16th, with drop-off locations in DC and Arlington.

AFAC currently distributes over 80,000 pounds of food to nearly 2,200 families each week, and nearly 40% of the food AFAC distributes is donated. Children make up over 35% of the people served, with elderly residents comprising another 30%. This is a great, and easy, way to help give back to our community this holiday season!

Whether you want an excuse to clear out some non-perishable goods from your pantry, or you'd like to donate between $1.00 - $25+ towards an emergency food kit to feed a family for 1-2 days, or you'd like to assemble and donate emergency food kits on your own, your generosity is appreciated and welcome. We have three easy ways to give:

- Donate non-perishable goods at our DC drop-off location. Coming to the Annual Party/ Board Elections on December 9th! Bring a can of food to donate on-site. If you are one of the first 100 members to sign in, you will receive a free 1 lb bag of freshly roasted Peets coffee.

- Donate the monetary equivalent of a specific Emergency Food Kit item or a full kit

- Donate emergency food kits at our DC and/or Arlington drop-off locations. Each emergency food kit feeds a one or two people for 1 day. Each emergency food kit contains specific items and is double-bagged in a specific AFAC bag. If you are interested in donating food kits, please see attached list and contact Nicole to arrange for pickup of Emergency Food Kit bags. (https://afac.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/EFK-Contents-2016.pdf)
