Chef/owner Ris LaCoste, a Cal alum, majored in French before heading off to Paris where she landed at La Varenne Ecole de Cuisine, earning a grand diplôme in French cooking in exchange for her work as a receptionist. Ris worked with Bob Kinkead for many years, first at Harvest in Cambridge Massachusetts, later as chef de cuisine, opening Kinkead’s American Brasserie in D.C. “Ris Lacoste is one of the most respected and dedicated chefs working in Washington, D.C. today, and has been a fixture on the culinary scene for over two decades. Prior to opening RIS her restaurant in the District’s West End, Lacoste served as executive chef of Georgetown’s celebrated 1789 Restaurant.
