HONORING THE VERY REVEREND GARY HALL OF THE WASHINGTON NATIONAL CATHEDRAL
Dear Alumni,
The details are in for our 6th Annual Reception and we have a terrific guest of honor lined up to speak to you.
This year we honor an amazing Cal grad, “The Very Reverend”, Gary Hall of the Washington National Cathedral. Dr. Hall earned an A.B. in English at Berkeley in 1972 and assumed his duties as Dean, Ecclesiastical Leader and Executive Officer at the National Cathedral in 2012. Since then you might say he has lent a bit of “Berkeley attitude” to his position, hosting panel discussions and forums tackling the tough issues of our time, with such titles as;

The event will be held at the historic Cosmos Club from 5 - 8 pm. Delectable Hor’s D’oevres can be enjoyed along with cocktails prior to the Reverend’s address. Space is limited. To assure your attendance, PLEASE DO NOT DELAY signing up for the event. Early RSVPs pay a discounted entry fee. This is our most formal event of the year and we expect a sell out.

DC CAL ALUMNI ANNUAL RECEPTION BACKGROUND:
The Annual Reception is the premier event of the Cal Alumni Club of Washington DC and supports club activities, which in the past have included student recruitment, communication, speakers, student scholarships and support for summer interns. Through our past Receptions, the DC Cal community has been recognized as one of the most generous and dedicated chapters in the country. As Cal continues to face growing financial challenges, our support will be more important than ever to ensure that deserving students have access to quality higher education.
The Annual Reception is also an opportunity to recognize notable Cal alumni in the National Capital region. Previous Distinguished Alumni honorees have includedMarc Pachter, former Director of the National Portrait Gallery;The HonorableNorman Y. Mineta, former Secretary of Commerce and Transportation; Lorenzo Alexander, Pro Bowl linebacker for the Washington Redskins and founder of theACES Foundation; andBeth Brinkmann, Deputy Assistant Attorney General, Department of Justice - Civil Division and molecular biologist Carol Greider,Nobel Laureate for her pioneering research on the structure of telomeres.
