Please save the date for the next Culture Club activity! We will be going to the Octagon House on Saturday February 28. We will have a guided tour at 11 am. After the tour, we will go to lunch at the Taylor Gourmet which is a Philadelphia hoagie shop not far away from the Octagon House.

If we have over 10 people sign up for the tour, the cost will be $5. If we have less than 5 people sign up, the cost will be $10.

The exact address of the Octagon House is 1799 New York Ave (corner of 18th and New York Ave) It is about 5 blocks from the metro, either Farragut North or Farragut West..

The exact address of Taylor Gourmet is 750 Pennsylvania Ave. They have very reasonably priced and good sandwiches and soups.

The Octagon House was built in the Federal architecture style in 1799. President Madison and his wife Dolley lived there after the British burned the White House. This house is said to be one of the most haunted houses inD.C. It is said to be haunted by the families who lived there, Dolley Madison, and even the African American slaves.

There is a limit of 25 for this tour.

Steve will post this event in the newsletter but I wanted you to have a chance to mark your calendar right away if you would like to go on this tour.

RSVP as the number of participants will determine the cost!

Looking forward to seeing many of you there!

Carolyn
